Weekly Review: June 18, 2017

My Weekly Review is a quick run down of my posts for the week, plans for the coming week and anything else I feel I need to share.

I’m almost back to normality following my break and the mountain of laundry we brought back with us. Fortunately it looks like we’ve brought the sun too (for now at least) so things aren’t all bad.

My book of the week this week is The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter. Many years ago when she was a relatively new author I read all her books. However for one reason or another I haven’t picked one up for ages so when this one popped up on NetGalley I jumped at the opportunity to read it.

It’s been a busy week this week on NetGalley and I’ve added several books to my TBR list this week. Now all I need to do is find the time to read them all!

Here are the books I’ve added this week.

This Week's Posts

I think I’m finally back on track this week with reviews of Wintersong by S Jae-Jones on Monday and I Let You Go by Lisa Mackintosh on Friday. This was previously published on my lifestyle blog but after a redesign I’m slowly moving all my book reviews over here.

My usual weekly memes are back again with First Chapters, First Paragraph from The Devil’s Work by Mark Edwards on Tuesday, This Week in Books on Wednesday, TBR Thursday and Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts on Thursday and Searching Saturday yesterday.

Earlier today I also took part in my first ever book tour for Shadows by Conrad Jones.

Well that’s my week in brief. If you want to keep up with things as they happen feel free to follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Goodreads!

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that despite me being away on holiday, I haven’t really got much reading done this past week. In fact I only managed to get through one, which was an ARC for an upcoming book tour.

Because of this I haven’t got a book of the week to share with you. Hopefully I will be able to get back on track very soon.

I’ve added two more books to my TBR list this week via NetGalley.

Here are the books I’ve added this week.

This Week's Posts

This week has been another mix up of sorts due to my holiday, but nevertheless I still have been able to post my review for Alice: The Wanderland Chronicles as well as my first ever book tag, The Social Media Book Tag. Don’t forget to let me know if you joined in with the fun, I’d love to see your responses.

On Thursday I was shared my Bookish (or not so Bookish) Thoughts and instead of a book review on Friday, I showed you my first 10 books from my #20BooksofSummer challenge (although I’m aiming for 15).

Weekly Review: May 28, 2017

My Weekly Review is a quick run down of my posts for the week, plans for the coming week and anything else I feel I need to share.

As you read this I will hopefully be chilling in the sun with a nice cold drink, enjoying some much needed downtime with my family.

However, I’ve made sure I don’t neglect my bookish family and have made sure I keep in touch by pre-planning my weekly review just for you.

Book of the Week

Because I’m away I have picked my book of the week based purely on what I think I would have chosen once I’ve read them. Therefore anticipated book of the week is

NetGalley Approvals

I haven’t added any new books this week but have been working my way through the ones I have to make room for some more when I return.

This Weeks Posts

I’ve had to make a slight change to my usual schedule this week due to being away but hopefully, if everything has gone according to plan, I should have prepared enough content to see me through until my return.

As you may have noticed this week there have been no book reviews. This is because I didn’t really get through that many books prior to my break. Worry not though, I will be back up and running very soon with lots more reviews for you.

On Tuesday I joined in with my first ever Top Ten Tuesday, which fortunately for me was all about summer so I shared with you a selection of my kindle holiday TBR list. I’ll let you know when I’m back how I got on.

Wednesday was another new link up for me. I participated in Bookshelf Fantasies’ Shelf Control. My book of choice for this was Ultimate Storm by Richard Castle.

Thursday saw me sharing a book from the to be read list in TBR Thursday and Friday was my First Lines Friday post.

We were almost back to normal by Saturday with my Searching Saturday post all about unknown books.

Normal service should be resumed sometime next week once I’ve unpacked and got back into my routine.

Weekly Review: May 21, 2017

Another week has finally drawn to a close and that means it’s time for my weekly review.

My Weekly Review is a quick run down of my posts for the week, plans for the coming week and anything else I feel I need to share.

Book of the Week

I’m still in pre-holiday mode trying to get in front for next week while I’m away. However when this book landed on my Kindle on Tuesday I had a hard time trying to keep motivated rather than locking myself away and devouring it.

My book of the week is Alice: The Wanderland Chronicles by J M Sullivan. I’d heard so many good things about this book that I couldn’t help myself. My full review will be with your shortly.

As I was in having a bit of an Alice in Wonderland binge I decided to download Alice in Brexitland by Lucien Young (or should I say Leavis Caroll) for a bit of light-hearted satire before I start on my holiday reading.

Alice in Brexitland

Lying on a riverbank on a lazy summer’s afternoon – 23rd June 2016, to be precise – Alice spots a flustered-looking white rabbit called Dave calling for a referendum. Following him down a rabbit-hole, she emerges into a strange new land, where up is down, black is white, experts are fools and fools are experts…

She meets such characters as the Corbynpillar, who sits on a toadstool smoking his hookah and being no help to anyone; Humpty Trumpty, perched on a wall he wants the Mexicans to pay for; the Cheshire Twat, who likes to disappear leaving only his grin, a pint, and the smell of scotch eggs remaining; and the terrifying Queen of Heartlessness, who’ll take off your head if you dare question her plan for Brexit. Will Alice ever be able to find anyone who speaks sense?

I’ve had another good week on my blog with reviews for No Kiss Goodbye by Janelle Harris on Monday and The Roses of May by Dot Hutchison on Friday

I’ve shared my First Chapter, First Paragraph for Alice: The Wanderland Chronicles on Tuesday, Wednesday I shared my Week in Books and Thursday I had some Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts.

Saturday was another post for Searching Saturday where we were looking for books with water on the cover in honour of learn to swim day.

I’m hoping everything goes according to plan next week while I’m away. Keep your fingers crossed.

Weekly Review: May 14, 2017

Well the week has finally come to an end and it’s time for my weekly wrap-up.

My Weekly Review is a quick run down of my posts for the week, plans for the coming week and anything else I feel I need to share.

Blog Update

I’m still working on my improving my blog. I’ve been joining some fun memes as well as sharing my thoughts on my recent reads.

I’ve also signed up to some book/blog tours so will be able to share them with you too.

Book of the Week

I’m in full on holiday prep mode at the minute which means I’ve not been reading quite as much as I’d have liked. Bearing that in mind I would have to say that my book of the week is The Roses of May by Dot Hutchison which is available on Read Now via NetGalley.

The Roses of May

NetGalley Approvals

I’ve added a few books to my NetGalley shelves this week in preparation for my holiday. A perfectly good holiday could be ruined if you run out of acceptable reading material, don’t you think?

Anyway, this week I’ve added the following.

Finally I have started my own feature, Sunday Shorts, where I share short reviews of some of the books I’ve been reading.

Well the week has finally come to an end and it’s time for my weekly wrap-up.

My Weekly Review will be a quick run down of my posts for the week, plans for the coming week and anything else I feel I need to share.

Blog Update

My blog is still very new and I’m slowly adjusting to life as a book blogger. I’ve been searching out some memes/linkys to join and will gradually adding them over the coming weeks. If anyone has any they would like to recommend, then please let me know in the comments.

Book of the Week

Compared to the last couple of weeks, this week has been a bit slow for me on the reading front. However my standout book for this week has to be Breathless by Nicola Claire. My full review will follow shortly. I have a major book hangover at the minute and my patience will definitely be tested waiting for the next book.

NetGalley Approvals

I haven’t requested many books over the last couple of weeks as I’ve been unable to keep up with the reading. However, when I saw that The Roses of May was available I knew I just had to request it. I was over the moon when I learned that it was a read now title.
