Sometimes two heads are better than one. Sometimes a poor hand is better than none. But not always…

Review

Poor Hands is the third book in Booker and Cash series. You can read my thoughts on the previous book He Made Me here.

Like the previous book, Poor Hands can be read as a standalone story. However in order to understand the relationship between Booker and Cash fully it is worth reading the books in order.

I was really looking forward to returning to Dymchurch and following the story of David Booker and Jo Cash and I wasn’t disappointed.

Bookers is going from strength to strength and David is on the look out for more staff to handle the increasing number of customers. Jo has a few small investigative jobs on the books, one of which is right up David’s street.

Yet again the quality of the characters is exceptional. I especially loved Ben and his quirky ways and hope to see more of him in future books. The will they-won’t they aspect of Booker and Cash’s relationship is still there, however it does seem to be progressing ever so slightly throughout the story so who knows what might happen in the next book.

There is something about this series that that draws you in. It has a mix of humour, suspense, romance and of course mystery and crime. It’s not quite as dark as some of my recent reads but it had me hooked and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a quick lighthearted read and I’m very much looking forward to the next instalment.

Many thanks to Oliver, Sarah and Bloodhound Books for my advanced reader copy and inviting me on the tour!

Tidy, Oliver_He Made Me_ AuthorAbout the Author

Oliver Tidy was born and bred on Romney Marsh, Kent. After a fairly aimless foray into adulthood and a number of unfulfilling jobs he went back to education and qualified as a primary school teacher.

A few years of having the life sucked out of him in the classroom encouraged Oliver abroad to teach English as a foreign language. The lifestyle provided him the time and opportunity to try his hand at writing.

Oliver’s success as a self-published author has led to his Booker and Cash series of books, which are mainly set on Romney Marsh, being signed by Bloodhound Books.

Oliver is now back living on Romney Marsh and writing full time.
