TBR Thursday #1: Marking Time

This week I’m joining in with TBR Thursday hosted by Kimberly over at Kimberleyfaye Reads.

This weekly feature is a great way to spotlight a title that’s been sitting on your shelves (virtual or otherwise) for some time for various reasons. I’m also going to ask for you input on whether or not I should read it or just stick it back on the shelf. Sometimes it seems like everyone is reading the same books at the same time and older titles have a way of just fading from the radar. I love the idea of featuring an older title and, of course, getting a chance to talk about it with other bloggers and readers.

Marking TimeMarking Time (The Immortal Descendants #1) by April White

Publication date: 30 October 2012
Publisher: Corazon Entertainment
443 pages
Add it: Goodreads

Seventeen-year-old tagger Saira Elian can handle anything… a mother who mysteriously disappears, a stranger who stalks her around London, and even the noble English Grandmother who kicked Saira and her mother out of the family. But when an old graffiti tag in a tube station transports Saira to the 19th Century and she comes face-to-face with Jack the Ripper, she realizes she needs help after all.

Saira meets Archer, a charming student who helps her blend in as much as a tall, modern American teen can in Victorian England. He reveals the existence of the Immortals: Time, Nature, Fate, War and Death, and explains to Saira that it is possible to move between centuries – if you are a Descendant of Time.

Saira finds unexpected friendships at a boarding school for Immortal Descendants and a complicated love with a young man from the past. But time is running out for her mother, and Saira must embrace her new identity as she hides from Archer a devastating secret about his future that may cost him his life.

Marking Time has been on my TBR list since August 2016. Having read the blurb again, it will have been the Jack the Ripper connection that interested me initially, however since then I seem to have put on the back-burner.

Have you read Marking Time? Do you think it’s worth my time? Would you read it?
